A pitted and unlevel infield, coupled with poor drainage, were creating unsafe playing conditions at the BHS baseball field. We partnered with sports turf specialist Andy Ommen to renovate the infield and refurbish the pitcher’s mound and home plate areas. We also installed approximately 24,000 square feet of sod and re-established the outfield arc and all grass lines.
Five Rotary Park softball fields were holding water around the outfield arc and material had built up around the rim creating an uneven arc. We cut out and reshaped all outfield arcs, graded the lips down to infield level to facilitate proper drainage and installed big roll sod to establish the new arc.
The high school’s baseball, softball and soccer fields needed a routine maintenance program to improve playing conditions. We are responsible for deep aeration, overseeding, fertility, weed control and fungicide applications.
Eastview’s sports fields needed to be upgraded. We expanded the baseball infield to an 80-foot arc, removed the top 4 inches of material around the rim, incorporated 100 tons of mix into the entire field and laser graded as well as compacted the field. We also upgraded the church’s softball field by incorporating 50 tons of mix into the existing field, laser grading and compacting.
Poor soil and drainage issues were adversely affecting playing conditions for the football team. Working with consultant Phillip Hargarten, we implemented an annual maintenance program that includes deep aeration, overseeding, fertility, weed control and fungicide application.
Home of the Fisher Bunnies, we are responsible for annual deep aeration and overseeding for the football field and softball outfield at FHS. We also solved a drainage problem in their infield by reinforcing the pitching area with professional mound clay.
When Illinois State University decided to renovate its pitchers’ mounds to correct issues with elevation, slope and distance, we partnered with sports turf specialist Andy Ommen. We rebuilt the game mound as well as both home and visitor bullpen mounds with professional clay. We also laser set the pitching rubbers to NCAA specifications.
We provide full-scale facility maintenance – including weed control, fertility, irrigation system maintenance and mowing – for all Judah sports fields and common grounds. We have also completed major renovations to the baseball infield, converting the infield to grass from a fully skinned surface and to the soccer field, installing an irrigation system and growing in the new practice field.
Low spots holding water were causing unnecessary rainouts for the Knox College baseball team. We laser graded the baseball field's skinned surface to create proper drainage and eliminate water holding pockets.
Knox’s softball field was also experiencing drainage issues, so we solved the problem by tilling the top layer of infield and laser grading to allow water to drain into the grass.
Our relationship with M-S High School began with deep aeration, spreading compost and overseeding the football field. We then solved standing water issues on the baseball field by cutting out the lip around the outfield rim, creating a symmetrical arc and relocating sprinklers. We now provide professional turf care for all athletic fields, including aeration, seeding, irrigation repair and fungicide application.
An aging softball field needed renovation to improve playing conditions. The process began with adding and blending 50 tons of infield mix into the current field, then we laser graded and top-dressed it with 10 tons of condition materials. Other renovations included expanding the arc to accommodate 80’ bases, resetting all base anchors and reinforcing the batter's boxes and pitching area with clay.
We established an annual maintenance program for all eight athletic fields and school grounds. Renovation projects included repairing the lip around the rim of the infield by adding 25 tons of infield mix and laser grading the entire skinned area to match the outfield surface. We also rebuilt the pitcher’s mound to specifications with professional mound clay, laser set the rubber and recreated the tabletop and slope.
We transformed the compacted thin grass on the football field into thick, game-ready turf. Work included irrigation repair, fungicide application and spreading 25 tons of compost.
All three fields at Kitchell Park were holding water and needed renovation. We began by scraping weeds and blending 190 tons of infield mix across all existing fields. Then we rolled and laser graded each field, adjusted home plates and reset all bases. The north field was also enlarged to accommodate 80' bases.
Both softball fields at American Legion Park were uneven and holding pockets of water. We added 50 tons of infield mix to one field and 25 tons to the second, then laser graded, rolled and finish graded both fields.
Warning tracks for two leading community college sports fields needed improvement. We widened the softball warning track to create an even distance from the outfield fence and installed a warning strip along fences in foul territory using 50 tons of red cedar track material. For the baseball warning track, we removed loose material and weeds, added 75 tons of clean limestone, edged the entire field and added 100 tons of new warning track mix.
We re-created the table top and slope of the pitcher’s mound at Peoria Notre Dame High School in Peoria to remedy a pitted, uneven surface. We also repaired the infield lip, including removing the infield rim, regrading to match the infield slope with the outfield surface, recreating the arc and installing new sod.
A long-established baseball diamond in Sadorus had become unplayable and unused. We renovated the entire field — establishing a 75-foot arc, removing the top 5 inches of infield surface, adding/grading/compacting 275 tons of new infield mix and installing the home plate and base anchors.
We established a practice football field from seed for St. Joseph-Ogden High School in St. Joseph, a five-time runner-up for the IHSA State Championship in 2A/3A, and provided fertility and weed control through the field’s maturity.
We have worked with the Village of St. Joseph, St. Joseph Grade School and St. Joseph Youth Baseball to improve field conditions and protect the safety of young athletes. Work included reclaiming an abandoned field, rebuilding pitching mounds and solving drainage issues.
When one field does double duty for football and soccer, the turf gets a lot of playing time and can be challenging to maintain. We are responsible for ongoing deep aeration, overseeding, fertility, weed control and fungicide application. We also assist with irrigation repair and maintenance.
We improved pitching conditions by building up the front slope and tabletop with mound clay to specifications for a 10” mound.
A weed problem in the infield at Trinity was a result of the infield mix being too thin. We scraped the weeds, added 50 tons of infield mix and edged the field.
We provide professional turf care for the Tuscola Warriors, a winning program in IHSA Class 1A football. As part of the turf maintenance plan, we added 25 tons of compost to the game field and deep aerated and overseeded both the game and practice fields.
We maintained the grass football field for Unity, a five-time state runner-up in IHSA 2A/3A. We also added 75 tons of infield mix, laser graded and compacted the softball field. When Unity converted its football and soccer fields, along with baseball and softball infields, to synthetic turf, our services evolved. We provide fertility, weed control, aeration, overseeding and irrigation support for Unity’s natural turf, while caring for new synthetic surfaces as well.
Working with sports turf specialist Andy Ommen, we completely rebuilt the UIUC baseball pitcher’s mound at Illinois Field. Work included creating the proper tabletop and slopes using clay suited for the Midwest climate.
When the Park District in Washington needed field upgrades that included improving surface drainage, we incorporated 75 tons of infield mix into 2 fields and laser-graded 3 fields.
